I’ve lived in London for all of three weeks now and am still enjoying the novelty of things. Today while in Greggs I saw a sign advertising TOTTENHAM CAKE. ‘Tottenham Cake?!’ I thought, ‘what delightful regional delicacy waits for me here?’ It looked admittedly a lot like a dry brick of bland cake with some watery pink icing, but excitedly I made my purchase and pottered off.
Tottenham Cake is a dry brick of bland cake with some watery pink icing. According to Wikipedia it always has been, so I can’t really complain, but what I can complain about it how badly Greggs has managed to mess up a basic sponge. I have eaten some of the best food of my life down in London, but compared to an Eccles Cakes your mass produced regional fripperies really need up their game.

Crazy jealous
My Birthday dinner at Bonnie Gull - such a lovely bright and cheery restaurant and the fish was amazing. So nice to be somewhere concentrating on being good rather than trendy. Also my first taste of oysters which are YUMMY!
Dinner at James Ramsden’s Secret Larder. Was so excited to try a Supper Club in London and the evening was so utterly charming and pretty, and James himself couldn’t have been friendlier. Completely worth the schlep to Shoreditch!
